Telemedicine Consultations

Telemedicine Consultations

The Animal Hospital of Cambridge will continue to offer Telemedicine Consult Appointments for those pet owners with difficulty getting in to see us or who have very anxious pets. This service is only open to Ontario residents. Connect with a member of our team via a one-on-one phone call. Call us to schedule an available time slot at 519-624-9760.

Who Can Book An Appointment?

Telemedicine is good for stable pets with mild illnesses or symptoms. We will triage with you over the phone when you call to set up an appointment and let you know if this service is right for your pet. Call us at 519-624-9760. You will need to pre-pay the consult fee prior to the veterinarian calling you. We accept Visa & Mastercard.

While Telemedicine is a useful tool, we do prefer in-patient appointments. This service is not recommended for pets in distress or having emergencies (respiratory, seizures, unable to urinate).

Health Issues We May Be Able To Help With Over the Phone

  • Behaviour Concerns
  • Mild Cases of Vomiting or Diarrhea
  • Dermatological Concerns (itchy skin, redness, lesions, cuts, bruises, etc.)
  • Mild Infections (for example, ear infections, acute signs of bladder infection, etc. Samples for lab testing may be required.)
  • Nutrition Advice
  • Prescription Medication Renewals (If the condition is one to be monitored and if it has been > 1 year since your last in-patient exam, and out-of-hospital prescription fee may also apply.)

Medical Records, Pictures, and Follow-Ups

You may wish to share pictures or videos prior to your pet’s appointment. Please send them to info@ahoc-ph.com with your pet’s name, your first and last name, a phone number, the reason for your appointment, and any details you can provide about the concern. If your pet has another regular veterinarian, please have your clinic email your pet’s medical record to us at the same email so that we can review any previous history. We will then be able to share your appointment findings with your regular care provider for follow-up. Please let us know if you have pet insurance so we can help you with any claims. By sending any previous history, pictures, or video ahead of your appointment time, our veterinarians will start to formulate a diagnostic treatment plan and will spend 20 minutes going over any concerns and questions you may have.

Cancellations & No-Shows

If, for any reason, you need to cancel your appointment, please call us a minimum of 3 hours before so we can refund the charge to your card payment. Please be advised “No shows” will lose their consult fee, with no exceptions. The veterinarian’s time must be covered for the appointment time you arranged.

A Hospital Visit May Still Be Required

Only when required per the veterinarian’s recommendation will we request for your pet to visit the hospital for diagnostic testing, closer in-person examination, or x-rays. When this happens, the Telemedicine examination that you have pre-paid for will be credited towards the cost of an in-patient examination.
